Tumors of the Kidney

There are two main types of kidney tumors, both malignant, but only one occurs in adults. This type of tumor "hipernephroma" are created along the edge of failure because of the uncontrolled reproduction of abnormal cells.
The tumor grows and encroaches on the healthy kidney tissue, however, given that the tumor affects the kidneys until the very late stage, rarely leads to renal failure. The presence of tumor is more likely to manifest general symptoms such as persistent fever, lack of appetite and weight loss. There is also moderate and vomiting, general pain in the abdomen, and urine may be cloudy or red due to bleeding from the tumor.

Hipernefromi are rare, occurring most commonly in men who have crossed forty, but they account for only 3% of all deaths from cancer.

The dangers of kidney tumors
The main danger posed by the possibility of tumorous cells spread through the bloodstream to other parts of the body, especially in the lungs or bones. However, hipernefrom does not spread as rapidly as many other types of cancer, and more responsive to treatment.

What to do?
If you are noticing symptoms that suggest the possibility of renal tumors, especially if your urine is dull reddish or abnormal, contact your doctor, who will probably send a sample of your urine for laboratory analysis. If a tumor is suspected, you will need to perform a series of diagnostic tests, for example. intravenous pyelogram (IVP), ultrasound, and renal arteriogram. Because of the search you will probably stay a short time in hospital.

Treatment of renal tumors
If results indicate the presence hipernefroma will require surgery, ie. removal of the affected kidney, no. and one healthy kidney can compensate for lack of second. Your doctor will recommend and radiotherapy and cytostatic therapy (drugs against cancer or neoplasms) in order to destroy possible remaining cancer cells. After treatment you will need to go to regular check-ups (up to five years) to check that the cancer has not reappeared.
